Today, Silvacom Ltd. (Silvacom) was named one of Alberta's Top 70 Employers for the fifth consecutive year in an annual competition organized by Mediacorp Canada Inc., organizers of the annual Canada's Top 100 Employers project.
This award recognizes the Alberta employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. Winners were announced in a special edition magazine published in the Edmonton Journal and Calgary Herald and online at edmontonjournal.com and calgaryherald.com. The 70 winning workplaces are not ranked in any order.

First published in 2006, Alberta’s Top Employers is a special designation that recognizes Alberta employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional human resources programs and forward-thinking workplace policies. Employers are evaluated using eight criteria: Physical Workplace; Work Atmosphere & Social; Health, Financial & Family Benefits; Vacation & Time-Off; Employee Communications; Performance Management; Training & Skills Development; and Community Involvement.
The judges offered several reasons for selecting Silvacom, including:
- $1,000 flex dollars as part of the company’s health benefits plan, that can be allocated to a health spending account, a wellness spending account, used to purchase extra vacation days, or transferred to an RSP
- Tuition subsidies for job-related courses, subsidies for professional accreditation, and financial bonuses for some course completions
- Matching RSP contributions up to 9 per cent as well as retirement planning assistance
- Maternity leave top-up to 100 per cent of salary for six weeks for employees who are new mothers
