Pipeline Habitat Restoration Services

Join Our Webinar on Pipeline Habitat Restoration
Successfully Navigating Key Challenges of New SRP Requirements on Active Pipelines (Upper Smoky Sub-Regional Plan)
MAY 14, 2025 9:00 AM MDT | 11 EST
With Alberta’s Sub-Regional Planning Process introducing new regulatory requirements for caribou habitat restoration, the energy sector must adapt and implement habitat restoration on active pipeline corridors. Unlike decommissioned or abandoned pipelines, active right-of-ways (ROW) present unique operational, regulatory, and ecological challenges.
This webinar will explore the complexities of meeting habitat restoration objectives while balancing:
Ecological restoration goals
Operational efficiencies
Regulatory requirements
Indigenous community and stakeholder values

Pipeline habitat restoration aims to mitigate the associated habitat impacts of linear pipeline corridors by reducing the footprint width of the active Right-Of-Ways (ROW).

Our Pipeline Habitat Restoration Services:
- Regulatory Compliance Navigation: Ensuring adherence to sub-regional plans.
- Site-Level Vegetation Assessments: Using LiDAR and geospatial analytics for efficient precision planning.
- Tactical Landscape Planning: Segmenting ROW corridors for strategic revegetation sequencing.
- Key Community Involvement: Collaborating with Indigenous communities and stakeholders for inclusive planning.
- Technology-Driven Restoration Solutions: Integrating new technologies for efficient planning.

Silvacom Caribou Habitat Recovery Information Sheet
The Government of Alberta is taking a multi-faceted approach to caribou habitat recovery in the province.
A new, emerging regulatory requirement under sub-regional plans aims to reduce the footprint of active pipeline Right-Of-Ways (ROW) through restoration. The intent is to restore these active dispositions to pre-disturbance ecosites and wetland classes capable of producing caribou biophysical habitat.
Reclamation of decommissioned and abandoned pipelines is not new to Alberta nor is the restoration of other linear footprint such as roads and seismic lines. However, revegetating an active Right-Of-Way poses some unique challenges to effectively achieve the desired caribou habitat outcomes while efficiently operating a pipeline.

Silvacom Pipeline Habitat Restoration Use Case
Pipeline habitat restoration poses several challenges for industry including navigating sub-regional plan requirements, habitat restoration alignment, and balancing stakeholder values. Learn more about how Silvacom’s Pipeline Habitat Restoration services help leading energy companies efficiently plan and implement restoration on their Right-Of-Ways (ROW).
